Desde la popularización de los sistemas de navegación inteligentes en los coches y su compatibilidad con Android Auto y Apple Car, son muchos los fabricantes que opta por integrar lo que se conoce como MirrorLink. Uno de los requisitos indispensables para disfrutar de este tipo de tecnología en el coche se basa en contar con una pantalla táctil de un tamaño determinado que además permita reproducir color. Pero, ¿qué es MirrorLink realmente? ¿Son todos los coches compatibles con MirrorLink? ¿Existen radios compatibles con MirrorLink? Lo vemos a continuación.
Qué es MirrorLink y cómo funciona
Como su propio nombre indica, MirrorLink no se trata más que de una tecnología que permite duplicar el contenido de la pantalla al sistema de navegación del coche. A diferencia de otros sistemas propietarios como Apple Car o Android Auto, MirrorLink duplica la pantalla del smartphone al completo como si de un monitor se tratase, de tal forma que no necesitamos recurrir a aplicaciones compatibles para hacerlas funcionar en el coche.
En cuanto al funcionamiento de MirrorLink, este es realmente sencillo si contamos con un coche y un móvil compatible. Por norma general, el proceso es tan simple como conectar el teléfono al coche a través de alguno de los puertos USB con los que el vehículo cuente y acto seguido conceder permisos de conexión al coche. Cabe añadir, eso sí, que el cable USB empleado en la conexión ha de ser el propietario del propio teléfono o bien uno que admita la transmisión de datos. Os dejamos con varios modelos de cables compatibles con MirrorLink.
Una vez nos hayamos asegurado de que tanto el coche como el cable y el teléfono son compatibles con MirrorLink, conectaremos el smartphone al coche y nos iremos hasta la opción de MirrorLink dentro de la aplicación de Ajustes de Android. En móviles Samsung y HTC, esta misma opción puede habilitarse a través de la aplicación correspondiente (Car Mode, LG MirrorDrive, HTC MirrorLink…), aplicaciones que podemos descargar desde la tienda de Google.
Finalmente habilitaremos la opción de Permitir la conexión del teléfono al coche y automáticamente la pantalla pasará a replicarse al detalle en la pantalla del coche.
Lista de móviles compatibles con MirrorLink (actualizada a 2019)
La lista de teléfonos Android compatible con MirrorLink no es muy abultada. A día de hoy, de hecho solo unos pocos teléfonos de Huawei, Samsung, HTC, LG y Sony son compatibles co dicha tecnología. El resto de marcas como Google con los Pixel o OnePlus no cuentan con compatibilidad ante este tipo de sistemas

Al igual que ocurre con los móviles, no todos los coches del mercado son compatibles con MirrorLink. Actualmente la lista se limita a unos cuantos modelos de marcas como Kia, Toyota, Citroen y Volkswagen. Cabe añadir que la mayoría de modelos listados comienzan a ser compatibles con MirrorLink a partir del año 2015 y 2016 dependiendo del nivel de extras que el coche incluya.
